30th October 2022

A busy 48hrs for Sam Neary this weekend having received a late call up to join RAM Racing and partner Ian Loggie at the 2022 FIA Motorsport games on Thursday night representing the UK.

Due to driver illness, Sam Neary was a asked to step into Chris Froggatt's driving shoes in the GT Cup race on Saturday at Circuit Paul Ricard in France.

Having caught a flight from Stansted to Marseille Friday morning, he was only able to manage 20 mins in the car before the first qualifying race at 6pm.

Sam Neary managed to drive a new car, at a new track into the dark to finish P3. A further qualifying race, Saturday morning gave Ian and Sam a P4 finish.

Starting fourth on the grid in the medal race on Saturday afternoon, Ian and Sam finished the podium race in P3 taking the bronze medal in what was a hugely competitive one hour race.

As one of only two medals won by the UK this weekend, it was a fantastic achievement for both drivers and Ram Racing.

The 2022 FIA Motorsport Games was the second edition of the FIA Motorsport Games. The event took place on 26–30 October 2022 with Marseille as a host city, and the Circuit Paul Ricard, Le Castellet as the venue. Scheduled initially for 23–25 October 2020, and later for 29–31 October 2021, the event was postponed two years in a row due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 475 athletes (397 men and 78 women) from 72 National FIA member organisations took part with 48 sets of medals featured in the 16 disciplines.
